We have almost reached to the end of March and many things have happened since the last time we updated.

First of all, we are happy to pronounce that Mgahinga Community Nursery and Primary School have changed the name to Mgahinga Community Junior School. See more pictures and updates at our Instagram @mcdo_uganda

Two new volunteers have joined our team in the beginning of March, Emil Olsson and Signe Nilsson. They are from Helsingborg and will be here until middle of May. This couple of weeks, they have been helping out with the lessons at the school. Signe is a construction engineer so she has been helping out in the construction work at the new school. She will also help to reconstruct the roof at the cottage in Amajambere Iwacu Community Camp. We are happy to have them in our team!

Lisa Nordh Hedenskog has contributed through a fundraising a water tank to Mgahinga Community Junior School. She has also been in Kampala to buy the materials and the sewing machines to the new project. Together with her colleagues Signe and Tove, they will start a skill development project that involves teaching people, especially woman, to sew and to create their own menstruation protection materials. The aim is to help young girls to stay in school while they have their periods and to teach women how to make their own protection, which both will be a financial access and an environmental benefit.

Alex and Tove have contributed with new school desks at the school so more pupils can get access to an education and also to ensure them a better education. They have also designed the new school name. Their upcoming project is contribute with the last details in the classrooms such as paintings, clocks and posters.

“This couple of weeks, they have been helping out with the lessons at the school. Signe is a construction engineer so she has been helping out in the construction work at the new school. .”

We really appreciate the work that Lisa, Tove and Alex have done! For more updates, please visit our Instagram @mcdo_uganda and @trefotter
