Swimming at Lake Mutanda

Picture
Mgahinga Community Development Organization (MCDO) together with volunteers and interns are offering swimming lessons to pupils at Chihe Primary School in Kisoro district, southwestern Uganda. The swimming lessons are tailored to school children who have to cross Lake Mutanda every morning and evening to go to school. The venue for the swimming lessons is Winners' Beach at Mutanda Eco Community Centre.

The pupils have to first have ground training and demonstrations on the lake shores before they can start swimming in the lake waters. The main objective of the swimming project is to train and improve swimming skills of school children and community members where possible. Also, the onsite staff at Mutanda Eco Community Centre have teamed up with MCDO volunteers to conduct the swimming classes.
